Body Contouring Surgery
Recovering from body contouring surgery
Abdominoplasty-Tummy Tuck
Sometimes working hard, eating well and losing weight can achieve the right number on the scale, but sometimes there are stubborn areas of fat and skin that are left hanging leaving your abdominal area not like you had hoped. A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat, sagging skin, tightens and flattens the underlying muscle structure, leaving a smoother, slimmer, firmer, more pleasing profile.
Post Care:
After an Abdominoplasty-Tummy Tuck surgery, your abdomen will be covered with surgical dressing that provides gentle pressure to minimize swelling and bruising. In many cases, there will be thin, small tube placed around your incision in order to drain any fluid that builds up around it.
After your Tummy Tuck, we will help you manage:
- Mild to moderate pain
- Taking pain medication as recommended by your doctor
- Drainage from the incisions and reapplying the compression garment
- Applying cool packs to the face to ease pain and reduce swelling
- Walking when your doctor recommends it. This helps to reduce swelling, lower the chance of developing blood clots and/or pneumonia, and avoid constipation.
- Rest comfortably so that there is no pulling on the incision that could cause it to not heal properly
We will contact your doctor immediately if you have:
- Severe pain within 24 hours of surgery
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain
- Irregular heartbeats
Buttock Augmentation
Buttock augmentation, or gluteal augmentation, is used to improve the contour, size and/or shape of the buttocks. This is done through the use of buttock implants, fat grafting or sometimes a combination of the two.
Post Care:
After Buttock augmentation, drains may be placed at the incisions right after surgery to drain fluids that may accumulate in the surgical site. In addition, your surgeon may also recommend wearing compression garments to help keep the drains in place in addition to offering support and help prevent any potential complications and infections from arising.
Moderate to severe pain and tenderness in the area is common and will be managed through pain medication. Patients should refrain from sitting down, bending over, or sleeping on their back until they are cleared to do so by their surgeon. You may have a compressive garment on if liposuction was performed at the same time as your implant surgery.
We will help you:
- Take measures to medicate and reduce moderate to severe swelling and pain that is common after this surgery
- Refrain from sitting down, bending over or sleeping on your back until you are cleared by your surgeon
- Manage the compression garments which may be in place if liposuction was performed at the same time as your implant surgery
- Get plenty of rest.
- Prepare balanced meals
- Increase more raw fruit to your diet, in addition to increasing fluid intake. to prevent constipation
Fat Transfer

Post Care:
There will be swelling and bruising after surgery, both in the area it is transferred to and in the area from where the fat was harvested.
We will help you:
- Use ice packs liberally in the areas of the face where fat was transplanted to minimize bruising and swelling
- Use ice packs to the body area from where the fat was harvested
- Take your pain medication as directed by your surgeon
- Keep your head elevated to help reduce swelling and pain
- Get plenty of rest
- Avoid any excessive activities
- Prepare proper foods to limit excessive chewing
- Avoid extreme laughing, smiling, or other facial expressions that cause strain on your healing tissues
- Pull clothing over your head
- Gently brush your teeth
- Update loved ones inquiring about your progress while you rest
Liposuction
Sometimes when traditional diets and exercise don’t work, liposuction does. Sometimes the little pockets of stubborn fat just won’t go away even after you’ve lost weight. Liposuction is an effective way to remove fat by selectively dislodging and removing the cells with a tube and suction device. Once the fat cells are gone, they won’t come back helping to sculpt a sleek silhouette that is more pleasing in appearance.
Post Care:
During your liposuction recovery, a compression garment or elastic bandages may cover treatment areas once your procedure is completed. These help to control swelling and compress the skin to your new body contours. In addition, small temporary drains may be placed in existing incisions beneath the skin to remove any excess blood or fluid.
We will help you:
- Manage the surgical site and drainage
- Take measure to reduce swelling and pain
- Get plenty of rest
- Prepare balanced meals
- Increase more raw fruit to your diet, in addition to increasing fluid intake to prevent constipation
- Take your pain medication as directed by your surgeon.
